Mapia One, the self-proclaimed rising star, recently took to social media to bless—or rather, curse—us with a shirtless performance that can only be described as tragic. In what was clearly an attempt to jump on the amapiano trend, the artist took his shirt off and proceeded to unleash a series of dance moves so bizarre that they resembled a confused version of loor jieng—but with less coordination and even less rhythm.
Rather than grooving smoothly to the beats of his song, Mapia One flailed around like someone trying to swat away imaginary flies. It was the kind of performance that made you cringe, then laugh, then question your own eyesight. If loor jieng is the pride of traditional dance, what Mapia One delivered was its embarrassing cousin—awkward, misplaced, and totally off-beat.
We get it, Mapia One—everyone’s trying to go viral these days. But if you’re going to throw away your shirt, at least keep a little dignity with the dance moves. Amapiano deserves better, and so do we!
