Beckie Johnz revealed details of the accident in a Facebook post, saying she was driving on a road with a 110 km/h speed limit when her car suddenly skidded and lost control.
She said she remained conscious throughout the crash and heard glass breaking as the vehicle rolled. Several motorists stopped to assist her, including an off-duty police officer and paramedic, who helped her out of the overturned vehicle.
Despite the severity of the crash and the fact that her airbags did not deploy, Beckie said she escaped without a visible scratch.
She was taken to Royal Melbourne Hospital, where medical teams assessed her for potential serious injuries. Emergency responders described her as “lucky” to have survived.
Beckie, however, attributed her survival to her faith.
“I call it grace. I call it mercy. I call it protection. I call it God.”
She also recalled an unidentified woman who held her hand and comforted her while she waited for an ambulance, a moment she described as bringing peace amid the chaos.
The crash also triggered her iPhone’s emergency detection system, alerting family members while she was unable to answer their calls.
After returning home and seeing her children, Beckie said the experience gave her a renewed appreciation for life and family.
She urged people to cherish their loved ones, express their love openly and remember that tomorrow is never guaranteed.
For Beckie, the October 3 crash is now a testimony of survival, faith and what she believes was God’s protection.
